A fictional one-act production inspired by the magical world of the ballet. A design study, not an archival advertisement.

Three worlds.

The enchanted garden

A prince enters the garden of Kashchei. A bird, caught and released, leaves a feather: a promise of help.

The infernal dance

The feather calls the Firebird back. The enchanted creatures are swept into a dance that cannot sustain itself forever.

The breaking of the spell

With Kashchei defeated, the garden awakens. The closing music widens from a quiet beginning into a radiant procession.

This programme accompanies an invented 1926 staging. The Firebird is a real ballet with music by Igor Stravinsky; the theatre and performance date here are fictional.
