Lagoon notes
An imagined field diary
After the last boat
Moon below the horizon

A study in bioluminescence

The water
remembers
your hand.

In the quiet after sunset, a small disturbance becomes a brief constellation. Touch the water. Let the dark return.

A paddle lifts.

Along the blade, the lagoon holds a narrow blue edge. A few drops fall back like sparks. Before I can count them, the water is ordinary again.

Observation: a line of light, then darkness.

Or touch an open patch of the lagoon.
