The bookbinder's bench / Case 24

An atlas, rebound.

A water-damaged volume.
A patient return to use.

The water left
its own coastline.

The lower edge of the atlas carries a deep, irregular tide mark. Several folded charts are stuck at their corners; the spine has drawn away from the text block.

First, make a record.
Only then, make a repair.

Every loose fragment is kept with its leaf. Pencil notes identify tears, softened edges and old repairs before the binding is opened.

Bench noteThe map is still readable. That is what we are working to preserve.
